The Acai berry grows mainly in south america, especially in Brazil where Acai has been a regular part of the daily diet for years. The Acai berry looks similar to the european blueberry, except for the fact that it has a stone.
The Acai berry contains a number of nutrients such as Vitamin B1, B2, B3 and B6 as well as Vitamin C,D and E. Furthermore, Acai contains Omega 3 and 9 fatty acids. Studies have also found various anthocyanidins such as Cyanid-3-glucoside, cyanid-3-glucosid-cumarate, Epicatechin, Catechin, Quercetin as well as other flavonoids.
Acai has recently gained a lot of attention because of it's ability to promote fatloss. And while Acai may not be a wonder berry, it can still be an important part of a healthy diet.
